Recently expanded by more than 50 acres, this is the Conservancy's largest preserve. The Marazita family sold the newest area to WLC in late April 2024, allowing the planning process for a fourth public trail to begin once funding is secured.

Location: End of Old Sawmill Road, Saugerties
Trail type: Hiking trail on old woods roads
Difficulty level: Easy
Dog friendly: No dogs permitted
Note: Bikes allowed
Parking: Parking is limited but was expanded thanks to a grant from The New York State Conservation Partnership Program. If lot is full, please return another time. No parking is allowed along Old Sawmill Road.

Located in the Zena Highwoods area where the Towns of Woodstock, Saugerties, and Ulster meet, this 210-acre Sanctuary offers three beautiful mile-long, walkable, bike-able trails, through a mixed hardwood and coniferous forest, featuring vernal pools, a seasonal stream, bluestone quarries, and rock walls. This Sanctuary is named after the donor’s father, and to further protect the forest habitat and animals, dogs are not allowed. The preserve is located at the end of Old Sawmill Road in Saugerties, NY with parking allowed only in the designated parking area by the kiosk.
