Located on Zena Road and Route 212, this was the first preserve ever protected by WLC. The acquisition of its 22 acres in 1989 was made possible by donations from more than 500 families who continued to give until the land was permanently preserved. The walking path is a nice way to explore this scenic preserve as well as learning more about the preserve from reading the brochure found at the kiosk. Enjoy a beautiful view of Overlook Mountain from either the Joy Hopkins-Hausman Memorial Picnic Table or the Irina Branzburg Memorial Bench. A loop trail mowed through the meadow passes along the Fontyne Kill, a tributary stream to the Sawkill Creek. Check out the newly-planted streamside area where volunteers planted a collection of diverse native shrubs, supplied by the NYSDEC Trees for Tribs program, to prevent erosion and create habitat. Limited parking is available along the shoulder of Gitnick Road near the entrance.
