Vernal Pool Ecology
Description
Vernal pools are relatively small, seasonal wetlands that have shallow water and support a wide array of wildlife, plants, and aquatic micro-organisms. This program will allow people to get a closer look at unique and specialized life in vernal pools and a greater understanding of the importance of pools in the forest ecosystem.
About Frank Parisio
Frank Parisio is a life long naturalist and a professional freshwater wetland ecologist. He has nearly 20 years of professional experience studying vernal and seasonal pool wetlands throughout the Catskills and Hudson Valley region. His particular interests are wildlife usage of vernal pools, and water quality and hydrologic fluctuations over time with changes in local climate and forest condition. Frank is passionate about wetland protection and enjoys sharing the wonders of vernal pools with others.
