A Discussion on the Renaissance of Nuclear Energy

Description

Nuclear energy is outside the purview of a land conservancy, but the issues of climate change and possible mitigation strategies are at the forefront of our work to preserve and protect land, waterways, wildlife corridors and ecosystems. That’s why WLC is partnering with The Golden Notebook and the Woodstock Jewish Congregation to welcome Dr. Edward Friedman to discuss his book “Nuclear Energy: Boom, Bust, and Emerging Renaissance.”

The book discussion is for community members to learn more about the controversies surrounding nuclear energy and its potential for impacting global warming from a physicist who is an expert in the solid state research. WLC staffer Keisha Hoerrner will moderate the discussion with Dr. Friedman, promoting greater understanding of a complex set of timely issues brought back into the news by Gov. Kathy Hochul’s push to expand the use of nuclear energy in New York.

Dr. Friedman received his undergraduate degree from MIT and his Ph.D. from Columbia University.  He will be answering questions about nuclear energy in New York, the United States and around the globe.

This book discussion is free to attend. If you would like to participate virtually, please click here to register for the Zoom link.
