We were pleased to be nominated then excited to be a semi-finalist, but we were truly over-the-moon when we learned we’d achieved 1st Place in the 6th Annual Chronogram Readers’ Choice Awards! Thank you, thank you to everyone who voted for WLC as the Environmental Organization of the Year. We are honored by your support and thrilled to have been a part of the Readers’ Choice Awards for the first time.

We are big fans of our fellow semi-finalists — the Catskill Center, Scenic Hudson, Catskill Mountainkeeper and Hudson River Sloop Clearwater. Each of these organizations works diligently to protect the Hudson Valley, and we’re happy to be right there with them.

We’re also delighted to announce that our Board Chair, Kevin Smith, was honored in the Environmental Activist category with the 3rd Place award. Kevin is not only our Board Chair, but he’s also Chair of the Ulster County Trails Advisory Committee and Chair of the Friends of the Catskills Mountain Rail Trail coalition. He’s a busy guy — and an incredible environmental advocate. We’re glad we’re not the only ones who appreciate his commitment to community service.

It’s truly fun to be recognized for our work, but we know the work is more important than any recognition. Still, we hope you are proud to be a part of a community with the top environmental organization in the Hudson Valley according to Chronogram readers.
