The Ashokan Rail Trail recently celebrated its sixth anniversary, so we’re collaborating with the Center for Photography Woodstock to launch the Happy Trails Photo Contest. Here’s your opportunity to show your love for the ART with your art.

Do you have a breathtaking landscape photo capturing the ART or captured from the ART? What about a stunning snap of a plant, flower, tree or animal you snagged while enjoying the trail? How about a shot of happy faces — yours in a selfie or others who were having a great time on the trail? Enter them in our photo contest!

We are accepting all levels of photography skill from the professional to the phone-photography enthusiast and everyone in between. Photographs taken of the ART since its opening in 2019 through the contest deadline of Jan 31, 2026 will be accepted.

The contest will be judged by three members of the local art community. We will be announcing the winners at an opening ceremony in March with awards, refreshments and exciting information about the rail trail and its future. Photos will be judged on the following metrics: subject, composition and “trail essence.”

To submit your photographs please fill out our simple form and upload your work directly. Please limit submissions to one per category. Submissions cannot exceed 10MB in size.
