In 2009, at the request of the Town Board, the Comeau Trails Task Force undertook an ambitious initiative to first document the deteriorating conditions of the Comeau trail network and then develop a set of recommendations for much needed remediation and improvement. Within this context, the Task Force invited Beth Reichheld to evaluate the impact of stream bank erosion and woody debris jams within the course of the river on the trails. In Spring 2009, Beth provided a memo summarizing her observations regarding the Sawkill’s impact on the Comeau property and trails and providing a series of recommendations for management to protect the property. Read her April 3, 2009 memo.
In spring 2010, Beth revisited the Comeau with the goal of observing the way that the Comeau soccer fields drain during spring runoff. Her observations were summarized in a March 25, 2010 letter to the Town.
